Thank you so much for visiting my page. This is my third year participating in the Lung Force Walk. On October 24th at the Thomas Jefferson Memorial, my family team “The Cox Crusader” will walk in loving memory of my beloved father, Richard Cox. A non-smoker, he courageously fought aggressive metastasized small cell lung cancer for 8 months. He passed away on April 8, 2020 at the age of 86 after 4 rounds of chemotherapy and 5 rounds of immunotherapy. My Daddy was loving, caring, giving and he made everyone's life more wonderful. I was honored and grateful to share his Lung Force Hero story at last year's virtual Lung Force Walk. I was also humbled to share my Dad's story at the American Lung Associations Advocacy Day on March 17, 2021. Through zoom meetings with our states Congressional and Senate members and staff, we sought increased funding for education and research for lung diseases.
I also walk in memory of my loving Uncle "Buddy" Barnhart, who passed away from COPD on August 30, 2017. He was so kind, giving, and funny. He also was a non-smoker and he didn't deserve the struggle he had to endure. There are also so many families impacted by the Covid pandemic and the American Lung Association has been on the front lines of education, research and funding. The need for funding is even more paramount now.
American Lung Association's LUNG FORCE unites women and their loved ones across the country to stand together for lung health and against lung cancer. Lung cancer is the #1 cancer killer of both men and women in the U.S., and every five minutes a woman in this country learns she has lung cancer. More must be done to raise awareness and the research funding needed to defeat lung cancer once and for all.
The 3 Cox sisters (Kathy Cox Allen, Carolyn Cox Brooks and Karen Cox Propheter) and our families, stand united as the Cox Crusaders, to make a difference in the lives of people impacted by lung cancer and lung diseases.
I'm really looking forward to walking this year and I greatly appreciate your support. Our collective efforts will help raise awareness and funds to protect lung health.
Your donation and participation, will help support the American Lung Association's research innovation, which leads to early detection for all and better treatments that give everyone a fighting chance. Today, more than ever, with the worldwide coronavirus pandemic, we need more funds to fight this battle.
To support my efforts, and to help save lives, please donate now. Be a part of the FORCE to defeat lung cancer and lung disease one step at a time. Thank you so much!
