Thank you for visiting my page. I lost my lovely mother, Antoinette, to lung cancer in 2019, and I'm here to make a difference in the lives of people impacted by this devastating disease.
I would also like to share my mother's story because many people do not realize that lung cancer is the leading cause of cancer-related deaths worldwide, accounting for the highest mortality rates among both men and women.
My mother never smoked, but her doctor suggested she have an Xray of her lungs at her yearly physical, even though she was perfectly healthy. We will forever be thankful for this suggestion because the results showed a tiny tumor in her lung that turned out to be cancer. Since it was caught early, my mother was able to fight this disease for 15 more years. These were not easy years for her, filled with endless doctor appointments and many surgeries as the cancer spread to other parts of her body.
She fought the cancer bravely, rarely complaining and continued to live her life with positivity, always putting her family and others first, never wanting anyone to worry about her.
This is the reason my family and I will do the LUNG FORCE walk on May 5th. It is to honor her, and all the other victims impacted by this disease.
Unfortunately, Lung Cancer does not receive as much fundraising as other cancers because many people assume that the victims brought it upon themselves by smoking. What people don’t realize is that most of the people who suffer from this terrible disease were affected by:
- secondhand smoke
- air pollution
- workplace hazards like chemicals and asbestos
I would greatly appreciate your support.
Your donation today turns small steps into bold strides toward a world free of lung cancer and lung disease.
Many thanks,
Christine
