Rodney S. Mardirosian, MPH is the Manager of Physician Development for Adventist Health Physicians Network, where he is responsible for growing the organization's provider network in Southern California Region. He facilitates the seamless integration of the affiliation between the hospital network and Adventist Health Physician Network (APHN). He also acts as a physician advocate in the community. He has been a key fundraising volunteer with the American Lung Association since 2014.
Prior to this, Rodney worked as an operations supervisor for the Thoracic Surgery division at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center. This role gave Rodney the opportunity to experience firsthand what patients go through, and in turn, how surgeons were able to help them. He would often see patients struggling for air and that instilled in him a deep desire to improve the quality of life for lung health patients and the air we all breathe. This is when he decided to become a fundraising volunteer. He has since participated in the LUNG FORCE Walk, LUNG FORCE Gala, the Fight For Air Climb and now, this Inaugural Men Wear Turquoise, Too campaign.
When Rodney participated in his first American Lung Association “Fight For Air Climb” he found himself struggling for air on one of the 63 flights of stairs. Ahead of him, an older gentleman put his arm around his shoulder and said, “don’t feel too bad, you’re competing with someone who has a 26-year old’s lungs.” He was a double lung transplant recipient.
