I am once again asking (as I do every year) for you to take a few moments to donate $100 or more to the American Lung Associaiton, a 100+ year old public health organization focused on better lung health for all Americans and for which I have been a devote volunteer/Board member since 2006.
Help me support meaningful Advocacy, ground-breaking Research and important/life-saving programs (such as Saved by the Scan which helps tobacco users get access to lung cancer screenings early and often).
Here are a few recent examples where the ALA spends your money:
$25M COVID Action Initiative – Key Area is to Support Research
- 24 COVID-19 Grants: which range from molecular analysis of antibody responses to reducing community spread of COVID-19 in vulnerable communities.
- Enabling the Airways Clinical Research Centers to support COVID-19 research.
- Partnering with the National Heart, Lung, and Blood Institute (NHLBI) to fund research projects around the phenomenon of Long COVID.
- Lung Health Cohort Supplement, aiming to determine the impact of sociodemographic characteristics and health behaviors on COVID-19 infection.
Community Support
- Engaged over 5,000 community partners across the country, donating more than 300,000 PPE
Unbiased Education
- Reached over 120 million people with trusted COVID-19 information
Thank you very much for your support!
Mark
