Hi, friend! I've signed up for the LUNG FORCE Walk on Sunday, Jan. 26, 2020, and I realllly hope you'll join my team, TEAM FRANCINE. My goal is to have a team of 100 friends & family - the biggest team in the walk's history.
Despite having never smoked a thing in my life and not being regularly exposed to secondhand smoke, this past May, I was diagnosed with Stage 4 Lung Cancer. While my primary tumor is in my lung, the cancer metastasized in my brain and bones. The bone mets were so numerous and painful that I had impending fractures in my hips and back, confining me to a wheelchair. I've worked hard to go from being in a wheelchair to using a cane to now walking on my own. (My next goal is to dance again!) To walk alongside fellow survivors and supporters like you at January's walk will be a celebration of how far I've come and a real way to support the research and development that can prolong lives like mine and others impacted by lung cancer, the #1 cancer killer of women and men.
We're going to make Jan. 26 a fun, memorable day, and it'd be such a blessing to have you and as many folks as you can bring with you, there with me. All ages and abilities are welcome. There's no required registration fee, no minimum donation requested, no demand for you to run or walk the complete 5k route. Please simply participate and give as you are able. Collectively, my goal is for our team to raise at least $5,000. My lifeline is a type of targeted therapy, a.k.a. oral chemotherapy, and my hope is that we can raise funds so similar medicine will soon be made available to other cancer patients, helping alleviate the side effects and challenges associated with traditional chemotherapy and other treatments.
Please sign up today. I'll make sure to keep you posted with more details and even upload fun appreciation posts to say Thank you, Thank YOU, THANK YOU! Your support means the world to me. See you on January 26, #TeamFrancine!
I love you,
Francine
