EVERY VOLUNTEER COUNTS

The Trek Across Maine is a multi-day cycling event that hosts nearly 1,500 cyclists and 600 volunteers each year. Our volunteers provide support both along the route and at each finish line facility that make our cyclists experience second to none! Without our volunteers, there is no way that we could create this incredible event year after year. Volunteer positions are available for the entire weekend or just a few hours. We need your helping hands…will you join us?

LOCATION: Volunteer positions available at Thomas Point Beach & Campground, Bates College (Lewiston), St. Joseph's College (Standish) and along the cycling routes each day.

TIME COMMITMENT: This is up to you! Certain volunteer tasks require participation for the full three days, but we have a variety of options that will work if you have just a few hours to give!

AGE LIMIT: Ages 7 years and older. All volunteers under 18 years old must be accompanied by an adult guardian at all times.

FEES AND FUNDRAISING

There is no registration fee or fundraising requirement in order to volunteer for the Trek Across Maine. If you are interested in raising funds to support the mission of the American Lung Association, we offer a Volunteer Fundraising Program with incentives you can earn for your efforts!

WHAT IS THE TREK ACROSS MAINE?

The Trek Across Maine is a multi-day cycling event starting and ending at the Thomas Point Beach & Campground in Brunswick. Overnight stops at Bates College in Lewiston and St. Joseph’s College in Standish, provide a place to rest and relax after each leg of the Trek. Activities, entertainment and food are all a part of the full Trek experience at each location. The Trek Across Maine also offers Go Global, a virtual Trek option for those that are looking to participate in a different way!

With 600+ volunteers each year, the Trek is fully supported in all areas. Volunteers provide support at rest stops and intersections along the route, as cheerleaders and traffic control at the finish line, and as on route support teams.

The American Lung Association provides housing and meals for all cyclists during the weekend, and depending on assignment and time commitment, housing and meals for volunteers, as applicable. Housing options may include: dorm beds, camping (provide your own tent), or you may choose to make your own arrangements (hotel, home, friend's house). Shuttle services will be available to some area hotels if you choose to make your own sleeping arrangements off campus.

Why We Need You in the Fight

In March, the American Lung Association launched a $25 million initiative to end COVID-19 and defend against future respiratory virus pandemics. At the same time, we're continuing our advocacy work to support clean air and redoubling our long-term commitments to lifesaving research.
