Helooo All!
After taking last year off to focus on company efforts, I'm Baaaaaacccckkkkk..... Gotta keep taking care of the amazing gift of a new heart from my Donor (I still call it my Donor's heart because it is.). It is hard for me to believe it has been nearly 5 years since this event in my life. So far so good!
Recipients such as myself have some big responsibilities:
1. Living for two people. Using every extra day I get on this blue marble as well as I possibly can- It's a cliche, but there's a reason it's a cliche!
2. Caring for the gift: Avoiding arterial blockages which can occur in transplanted hearts (exercise being a critical component).
3. Assist other patients in their cardiac journeys in any way I can- this has included writing a book on the journey and my life which I give away to anyone who asks.
4. Mentoring patients via Maine Medical Center
5. Creating a scholarship fund at Maine Med's Turning Point Cardiac Rehab to pay for cardiac rehab ongoing therapy for patients who cannot afford to continue this rehab / exercise once their insurance coverage runs out. This year I'm going to contribute 50 cents to this rehab scholarship for every dollar of support I receive, so you will be doing additional good by supporting my ride!
Please join me in my efforts to make a difference by making a personal or corporate tax-deductible donation.
Thank you in advance for you support!
