Dear Folks,
I believe I first rode in the Trek-Across-Maine in 1988. Altogether, I have ridden in it for twenty-five years, raising a fair amount of money, feeling good for supporting a good cause, and feeling good about the ride and proud of finishing it. For most of these years, my wife, Linda, was a volunteer. By dint of seniority and fundraising, I became "Trekker #5", and really liked that low number.
Age, weight, and quadriceps surgeries have limited the distance I can ride. For years I registered, paid the fee - kept my low number! - but didn't ride.
For the past five years I drove the 100-mile route SAG wagon for the ALA's Cycle the Seacoast (CTS). I religiously contribute to everyone who asks me to support their ride in CTS or in the Trek. This year, my friend Jackson Straight recruited me to volunteer to drive a SAG wagon for the Trek. Thanks, Jackson!
That's my Trek history. I will not take up space about all the good the ALA does in its fight against lung cancer, other lung diseases, and its fight against smoking. You know all that!
But I am asking for your support. Please donate to help the ALA continue its essential work.
Thanks,
Carl
