This is my "Why"...
It never dawned on me that Lung Disease has been a part of our family's life until my friends asked me to join the "Trek Across Maine" for the American Lung Association.
When I first registered I was thinking, "Yes, I am in! I am riding in honor of my mom" - who was recently diagnosed with lung cancer, and, ironically, I was asked to join the day of my mom's lobectomy surgery!
However, as I was registering for the ride I realized that lung disease was a part of our lives from the moment Carter had his first really bad "cold" at 3 months old - that was the start of his asthma journey.
We are very lucky to have had early detection of asthma for Carter and lung cancer for my mom. We are extremely fortunate to have excellent doctors for both of them. And most of all, the resources for their medications and care.
TODAY, I am joining hundreds of other cyclists and the American Lung Association to raise money to fight lung disease and increase awareness about the importance of lung health. Now more than ever, the work of the American Lung Association is critical to public health.
Please join me in my efforts to make a difference by making a tax deductible donation in honor of Carter, my mom and all those who suffer from lung disease - lung cancer, asthma, emphysema, COVID-19, COPD, etc.
Thank you in advance for you support!
