When one of my cycling friends suggested signing up for "Trek Across Maine" for the American Lung Association, I thought sure why not. When I read through registration I then realized the cause actually means more to me. My dad was diagnosed with emphysema many years ago and his father, my grandfather, lost his life to the disease. I also have friends & family members who suffer from asthma, a teammates mom recently diagnosed with lung cancer and know too many that have suffered from Covid-19. For these reasons I will ride.
I am joining hundreds of other cyclists and the American Lung Association to raise money to fight lung disease and increase awareness about the importance of lung health. Now more than ever, the work of the American Lung Association is critical to public health. The money that I raise to support the Trek will help fund the $25 million COVID-19 Action Initiative.
Lung disease can take someone's breath away, leaving them unable to work, exercise or play. Growing faster than almost any other major illness, lung disease, including COVID-19, lung cancer, asthma and emphysema is the third leading cause of the death in the United States.
Please join me in my efforts to make a difference by making a personal or corporate tax-deductible donation.
Thank you in advance for your support!
