Wow-the past four years represent the ridiculous importance of healthy lungs and self-care!
Take care of your lungs friends. -Give to the ALA if you can to help fund research and legislation!
2024 will mark my 14th ride for the American Lung Association I always say that it's a great weekend with 2400 of my better friends, but our numbers took a big hit since Covid... Donations are more important than ever!
The Trek is also a great cause to be part of and support! Personally, I fight for continued motion for this fifty-seven year old body. I love riding my bike, and I’m starting to train hard! Beyond that, I will join thousands of other cyclists and the American Lung Association in a journey across Maine while raising money to fight lung disease and increase awareness about the importance of lung health. Lung disease can literally take someone's breath away, leaving them unable to work, exercise or play.
There are many varieties of lung disease, and the American Lung Association funds research and legislation that makes a difference! COPD or chronic bronchitis/emphysema is the third leading cause of the death in the United States, the only one of the top five that is still increasing! Asthma affects millions of Americans and lung cancer is deadly. Pulmonary Fibrosis affects people in their fifties and sixties, years that are supposed to be “Golden” as work responsibilities wind down. PF takes that time away from its victims and their families, literally drowning those affected as scar tissue grows out of control in the lungs. Please support the ALA, who is researching effective treatments for these and other chronic conditions.
A little about our team: "Le Legende"... Idiopathic Pulmonary Fibrosis has no known origin or cure. Le Legende rides for Gerard Labbe, a great husband, father and generally outstanding person taken too early by this terrible disease. In addition to being a Master Gardener, they say he was a legendary horseshoe and pool player... Our team bears his nickname. Please support my bike ride in his honor. Your continued support is appreciated and acknowledged! Thank you for supporting me and all the people affected by lung disease! Join me in my cycling efforts again this year-to make a difference by making a personal or corporate tax-deductible donation. Any amount is welcome, from $2 to $200!
Thank you in advance for you support!
