This June, I will be joining thousands of other cyclists and the American Lung Association to raise money to fight lung disease and increase awareness about the importance of lung health. Growing faster than almost any other major illness, lung disease, including lung cancer, asthma and emphysema is the third leading cause of the death in the United States.
Athletics have always been at the heart of our family pastimes; Our dad miraculously played tennis, skiied, and threw spirals throughout his year of living with Stage 4 lung cancer before passing in June, 2018. Taking part in Cycle for Air isn't just a chance for me to support research and advocacy for lung health, but also an opportunity to celebrate the active lifestyle and the outdoors that our Dad ensured was a major part of our upbringing.
Thank you in advance for you support! Any contribution, however big or small, is greatly appreciated, including messages of encouragement or reminders to stay on top of my training :)
P.S. The team name is a tribute to Dad's old rock band, The Neptunes. While his love for sports were passed down to us, his abilities on the keyboard and piano, not so much!
