(I've ridden 594 miles since my April 15th start of the 2020 Virtual Trek Across Maine -- and will keep logging more miles until the June 30th completion date!)
This is my 3rd consecutive year riding in the Trek Across Maine, but this year is not "Trekking as Usual".
Due to COVID-19 and social distancing protocols the 2020 Trek will, unfortunately but understandably, be handled differently. In support of ongoing efforts to avoid large gatherings, all riders are being challenged to acheive their individual mileage targets on their own time and riding routes, by June 30th.
I intend to do my best to "Keep Calm and Pedal On" in support of the American Lung Association and its critical mission of helping those who suffer from various forms of lung disesase.
The COVID-19 Pandemic highlights the importance of the American Lung Association and its efforts. In fact, the ALA is launching a new $25M initiative to help bring an end to COVID-19 and defend against future respiratory virus pandemics.
My Father died of lung cancer at the age of 39. So, this year I am even more blessed than ever to have the opportunity to spend time getting exercise and fresh air while, at the same time, directly supporting the efforts of the American Lung Association.
I recognize that the current Coronavirus pandemic has, in addition to its core health threat, created financial hardship for many. But, I will be most grateful for any contributions you may be able to make to support the important work of the American Lung Association.
Thank you in advance for whatever support you may be able to provide, and stay healthy and safe!
