After 2018's amazing experience at Trek Across Maine, I'm back at it, and this time I'm more excited than ever!
I will be biking 180 miles over 3 days, across the state of Maine, to raise money to support the fight against lung cancer, COPD, asthma and other serious lung diseases through the American Lung Association. I'm doing this in memory of my grandmother, Anastasia, who died of lung cancer when I was eight. I want to honor her by raising money to help find treatments and cures for lung diseases. She was a doctor, so the idea of funding research is something she would have been proud of.
I'm also doing this for air quality. I grew up in Utah, in a valley with the worst air quality in the entire United States. Inversions continue to be a serious problem, and we need advocates for better air quality. Pollution has been shown to cause miscarriages and pregnancy problems, it keeps thousands of kids indoors instead of outside playing and getting exercise. Winter is my favorite time of year, and to be unable to enjoy it because of air pollution is a travesty. We all deserve better air quality!
Finally, I'm doing this for fitness. I love cycling, and having an incredible goal to train for is very motivating! I appreciate your support in this great cause, and in my pursuit of my hobby.
Please help me reach my goal! Remember, your donation is tax deductible. Please also ask your HR department about matching gifts and see your donation double in support of my efforts and the mission of the American Lung Association.
Thank you in advance for your support!!
