As many of you know, I received the incredible gift of a new heart on 9/18/19. I was fortunate to receive a very healthy heart, which medical friends (not my official care staff who cannot tell me anything about it) guess is also a young one. My goal has been to get into the best shape of my post-college lifetime and I'm on the way there. Walking, running, rowing and weights have all played a role along with my amazing rehab team!
OK! I wrote the above paragraph last year. I did 186 miles and loved almost every minute of it! This year I'm committing to another 180 miles minmum and I hope you'll consider sponsoring my ride for the Lung Association again! My updates are: April 27th I had my 18 month series of checks and they all came up aces! No signs of rejection, heart performance numbers that my athletic Doctors say they wish they had and really feeling great. With my Christmas gift from Wife Heidi of a real road bike I'm already racking up the miles and enjoying higher speeds, improved hill climbing and discovering new routes along the beautiful shores of Casco Bay and other places. I only flopped over on my side with my fancy new clip in riding shoes once so far... of course it was in front of an old guy with an excitable dog... but I polished up my soiled pride and rode another 8.5 home!
Thanks fo your support and encouragement over the last year and hope I can make you proud again!
