I'm back again for another year of raising money for the American Lung Association and participating in the Trek.
Team Shoefly is the fastest, most fun, and all-around stellar team to be on. We will swarm the roads, be unrelentingly annoying (much like a group of shoeflies) with how much fun we are having, and do our best to stay fed, non-parched, and cruising along the roads at top speed.
Lung disease can take someone's breath away, leaving them unable to work, exercise or play. Growing faster than almost any other major illness, lung disease, including lung cancer, asthma and emphysema is the third leading cause of the death in the United States. Your donations can help others living with one of these conditions, or even help to move research efforts in the forward direction.
I live with Type 1 diabetes, last year completed Ironman Lake Placid, and was able to juggle my illness during one of the hardest long-distance races that there is. Being able to help raise money for a good cause and go biking at the same time, while even juggling my own illness feels like it is a noble reason to fundraise and help others.
