Once again, I'm joining a bunch of like-minded goofballs in the Trek Across Maine, a long three days on a bike through which I, and the other participants, sincerely hope to raise financial support for the fight against lung cancer, cystic fybrosis, COPD, asthma, and other serious lung diseases.
I have asthma, but it's mild. I take some medicine and it gets better. Still, when my lungs tighten up, even though I know all I have to do is puff on my inhaler and I'll be able to breathe again, I get scared. Not being able to breathe is terrifying. I can't imagine what it would be like to have something seriously wrong with my lungs that an inhaler couldn't immediately fix. I know excellent people who have been fortunate, and unfortunate, in their battles with the more terrible lung diseases. Even if I can't hope to understand how brave they must be, I would like to do something for them if I can.
So, please help me raise money to support the American Lung Association, and send me with all the rest of the cyclists across the state of Maine.
Thank you in advance for your support,
