Hello from Southern Maine!
We have moved, and I have retired, but I am sending you this letter to ask that you consider funding me for my eighth Trek across Maine, which is an annual bike ride to raise funds for the American Lung Association. As most of you know, I participate in this ride in honor of my first wife Randi, who died of what is referred to as non-smokers lung cancer. Yes, it has been almost 15 years since I lost my wife, my children lost their mother and many lost their sister, daughter, relative, friend and colleague.
Unfortunately, as you may well know, lung cancer remains generally poorly treatable, which is why I would encourage all of you to strongly consider donating to help those who develop this disease and many other lung diseases.
Another alarming fact is that lung disease is the third leading cause of death in the United States. Please join me in my efforts to make a difference by making a personal or corporate tax-deductible donation. Ask your HR Department about matching gifts and see your donation double in support of my efforts and the mission of the American Lung Association.
Thank you in advance for your support
