There isn’t a day over the past year where I haven’t thought of how devastating the COVID 19 pandemic has been in my own life, and for all those I know. While I and my family were diligent and avoided any personal illness, the total impact on each us will not be fully understood for years to come. So many millions have contracted the disease here in the United States, with over 600,000 lost souls from the virus. Fortunately for all of humanity, the brightest minds have risen to the challenge, developing tests for detection, and now, vaccines for prevention. And while we may soon enjoy a life free of COVID 19 impacts, so many will find themselves dependent on the work of researches around the world. The American Lung Association is a major source of funding and support for the lifesaving work being done.
I have supported the American Lung Association(ALA), via their annual Trek Across Maine cycling fundraiser. My original Trek was as a participant only, but over the years, I’ve challenged myself to be more involved, and now I ride, I am the Team Captain for Team Slow Riders and I serve as a volunteer on the Trek Safety Patrol. With your continued support, my hard work has been rewarded by so many via generous donations to the ALA. Each year your donation level has increased, and for this, I owe all of you my sincere thanks.
Once again for 2021, the Trek Across Maine will be held as a virtual event. I have committed myself to another strong year of biking for my own health, and to demonstrate my commitment to earn your support. I hope to exceed my fundraising total from last year, with a target goal of $3,000.00 in donations, and to complete over 1,500 miles of road bike riding again this year.
The success of the Trek Across Maine fundraising depends on the thousands of dedicated riders and volunteers, and the generosity of individual donors, each contributing what they can in support of the critical work funded by the ALA. Your tax-deductible donation can be made via the Donate link on the 2021 Trek Across Maine website under my name, or with a check made out to the American Lung Association. Your generosity is so greatly appreciated.
There has never be a more critical time for your financial support. Please donate to my
Trek Across Maine effort today!
