This June, I will join thousands of other cyclists and the American Lung Association in a journey across Maine while raising money to fight lung disease and increase awareness about the importance of lung health.
Lung disease can take someone's breath away, leaving them unable to work, exercise or play. Growing faster than almost any other major illness, lung disease, including lung cancer, asthma and emphysema is the third leading cause of the death in the United States.
I will, again, participate in the 3 day trek with my dad Steve and my husband James on Father’s day weekend. We made this team after my mom was diagnosed with adenocarcinoma, 30 years after she quit smoking and passed just 3.5 months later. My mom was just shy of 67. Unfortunately for our family this is becoming a pattern. Her mom was 65 when she was diagnosed and ultimately lost her battle with this disease after 8 months. I take a little comfort in knowing that I have helped this organization in the past and I will continue to in hopes that I will not become the third generation.
Please join me in my efforts to make a difference by making a personal or corporate tax-deductible donation.
