This Fathers' Day weekend, June 14-16, I will join thousands of other cyclists biking 180 miles from Brunswick to Waterville and back in order to raise money and awareness for the American Lung Association's fight against lung diseases.
This year's 35th annual Trek Across Maine -- my eighth straight -- will again be done both as a lifelong asthmatic and in memory of My mother, Evelyn Neff, who died in 2014 at the age of 79 after a three-year struggle with several COPD-related illnessess, issues and complications. I will be biking this year's event in her memory and dedicating all proceeds raised to her.
I hope you will support me in my effort to raise $800 after raising $7,400 over the last five years. If only every one of my Facebook friends pledged just $5 each, I would easily eclipse the $3,000 mark, so I am asking for your help to make my goal and honor my mom's memory in one of the most appropriate ways I can think of.
Lung disease can take someone's breath away, leaving them unable to work, exercise or play. Growing faster than almost any other major illness, lung disease, including lung cancer, asthma and emphysema is the third leading cause of the death in the United States.
Please join me in my efforts to make a difference by making a personal or corporate tax-deductible donation.
Thank you in advance for any and all support you can give! It is appreciated more than I can adequately convey in words.
Sincerely, Andrew Neff
