So many changes to the Trek and my team this year! The route of the Trek will be totally different from all the previous years I have ridden from the "Mountains to the Sea" and the memories made on that route will become more distant with this change. My team, The Awesomes, with whom I have ridden since 2007, will be the smallest group ever, with two out of commission because of injuries. There certainly is a feeling of loss that change brings. If I just rode for the exercise or comraderie, I might be wondering why I am continuing. But I ride to support the American Lung Association and the work they do in fighting lung disease and promoting healthy air quality.
When I first rode in 2002, it was in memory of my brother and sister who had both died of small cell carcinoma, lung cancer. Over the years, my involvement in fundraising for the Trek has helped me raise over $14,000 for the American Lung Association.
With your financial support, I will continue to help The American Lung Association in their work to fight lung disease.
