Hi friends,
2022... another year, another Trek Across Maine... my 13th year participating in this great event for a great cause, The American Lung Association. The event is now back live in Maine and will occur the traditional 3-days in June, Father's Day. 2021 was a tough year, a pandemic, working full-time and a full-time caregiver for my father (age 93), who passed on 11/21/21. I am grateful to have been able to keep him in his home, his biggest wish as he aged. Always being away for the Father's Day weekend was hard, but it is surely to be much more so this year, as he won't be there to see when I return. But his memories will live on, close to my heart, as I close on purchasing his house on 5/2. We all face the pain of loss in life, but I've found becoming an "orphan" very difficult... although it is a normal part of everyone's life at some point in time.
This ride also has meaning close to my heart due to my mother's COPD battle of many years... that she lost in May of 2011. As we approach Mother's Day, realizing it has been 11 years, I miss her each and every day.
I try not to take things for granted... but being able to breathe without struggling is not something most of us ever think about. I do... certainly riding a bike 180 miles gives me a sense... I am blessed and thankful.
Please consider supporting me... donations of ANY amount are welcome. My favorite number is 7... My 2022 goal is $10,077. Sadly, I am without corporate matching, thus I appreciate any and all contributions. I will donate 3 days of my "free" time and am honored to do so. It is always such a fantastic event and fun time!
Please remember that your employer may offer a matching gift program for your donation! The TaxID and address has changed... Be sure to choose the American Lung Association (Tax ID/EIN: 13-1632524, 55 W. Wacker Drive, Suite 1150, Chicago, IL 60601) for the matching gift and remember to include my name and Trekker #524.
With best wishes and gratitude,
Patti
