Dear Friends and Family,
I have again accepted the challenge of participating in the Trek Across Maine Cycle for Air, a 180-mile cycling adventure to benefit the American Lung Association (ALA). The ride starts in Brunswick heads to Lewiston, then Waterville and back to Brunswick. There will be over 2000 cyclists and some 750 volunteers (my husband Lesley being one). The mission of the ALA is to save and improve lives by improving lung health and preventing lung disease.
I am passionate about this cause for TWO amazing women.
1) My Mom suffered all of her life because of her severe asthma/pulmonary disease before passing away at the early age of sixty-five related to complications of her disease.
2) A friend of mine, Patsy Husson who has been in treatment for Stage IV lung cancer for about a year. She never smoked and she has always been on the go. If she isn't taking pictures of beautifull scenery in Maine and everywhere she goes, she is having movie night with her neighborhood girls, or she could be with her antique car club peeps, or with her friends from the Hampden Historical Society, or researching her family tree, or loving on her husband Jim and their children and grandchildren. To say the least she has never taken any day for granted.
This is why the mission of the American Lung Association is important to me. Your donation supports the American Lung Association’s continued work to educate children and adults, fund lifesaving research and advocate for public policies that support lung health.
Any amount, great or small, helps in the fight against lung disease. I greatly appreciate your support and will keep you posted on my progress. If you would like to join me and ride please feel free to contact me. Along with a new route there are also new options for participating with three different routes and fund raising options.
