Hello, Dear Family and Friends!
It's that time of year again: getting the bike out and supporting the American Lung Association's Trek Across Maine -- their 38th year, my 18th. It is exciting to be doing this in person again over the Father's Day weekend (June 17, 18, and 19th) from Thomas Point Campground -- just up the road from me! I'm trusting my body will be able to do the 180 miles! This year I am riding with a new team: the Casco Bay Bike Club. The photo shows the first group training ride: 22 miles around Westbrook on Saturday, April 16. The Trek has raised more than $30 million in the past 37 years (and I'm proud to say over $40,000 of that you helped me raise since 2004!). This year funds will continue to support the ALA's COVID-19 Action Initiative in three critical focus areas:
To provide free lung health education and masks to those in need.
To protect public health by advocating for COVID and flu vaccines in underserved communities of color.
To prevent future outbreaks by investing in respiratory virus research.
I hope you will join me in supporting the American Lung Association. Thank you in advance for your donation. On-line credit card donations are very easy and secure, but you are also more than welcome to send a check with my name and Trekker Number 27 to the American Lung Association of Maine, 122 State Street, Augusta, ME 04330.
I hope you have been able to get vaccinated and boosted and are feeling more freedom, even as we continue to stay safe by wearing a mask and washing our hands more frequently!
With deepest thanks,
Judith
