Virtual Trek - Now through June 30
Every Mile Counts
The Trek Across Maine is a multi-day, multi-route option cycling event celebrating its 37th anniversary in 2021. The Trek cycling route will have a start and finish line hosted at the Brunswick Landing with overnight stops at Bates College in Lewiston and Colby College in Waterville. As the largest fundraising event of its kind in the nation for the American Lung Association, the Trek has raised more than $29 million in the past 36 years. Join nearly 1,500 cyclists and 700 volunteers on this one of a kind journey on Father’s Day Weekend.
The Trek Across Maine offers three route options with varying levels of mileage and fundraising. Registration fee from May 20 through June 30 is $25 (non-refundable & non-transferable) for each route option. Registration fee does not count toward fundraising minimum.
The 2021 Trek Across Maine will also offer a virtual option! Ride at your own pace, in your own community and set your own mileage goals. Earn commemorative items and incentives as you fundraise and participate virtually.
Children between the ages of 7 - 12 must ride a tandem or tag-a-long bike with adult guardian. All children under the age of 18 must have an adult guardian with them at all times on the route. Child and guardian are both required to meet the fundraising minimum.

WHY WE RIDE
There are 36 million Americans suffering from lung diseases, like COPD, asthma and lung cancer — the #1 cancer killer in the United States. As cyclists, you know how important it is to have healthy lungs and clean air to breathe. Now more than ever the American Lung Association needs your support! The Lung Association just launched the COVID-19 Action Initiative, a comprehensive $25M initiative to end COVID-19, fun research and defend against future respiratory virus pandemics. By joining us and hundreds of others for the Trek Across Maine, you’ll also be supporting:
- Life-saving research
- Education for patients and families
- Advocacy for clean air and protection from harmful air pollution.
Thank you for supporting healthy lungs and clean air, because when you can’t breathe, nothing else matters.
Volunteers Make it Happen
The Trek Across Maine is a fully supported event, with nearly 700 volunteers working alongside staff to provide services along the route. From support vehicle drivers, rest stop sandwich makers, directional support and luggage movers, there is a job for everyone!
There are volunteer opportunities available for a few hours or the entire weekend. Volunteers receive housing (as needed) and meals, along with a commemorative event t-shirt.
