Our Trek Across Maine staff put the health and well-being of our community first and foremost. We have been closely monitoring the spread of the coronavirus and the rollout of the COVID-19 vaccine throughout the past year. Based on the guidelines from the Centers for Disease Control (CDC) and local government officials, and communication with host facilities, we have decided to host the Trek Across Maine as a virtual event in 2021.
The physical ride will not take place June 18 - 20. Instead, we are encouraging participants to track their own progress and complete their mileage goals for Trek Across Maine by cycling 60, 120, 180 miles at their own pace before June 30, 2021.
Thank you for your incredible fundraising and riding efforts for the 2021 Cycle Your Way Virtual Trek Across Maine. Registration has now closed for the 2021 event, but you can still fundraise or donate at this time.
We will be opening our 2022 Trek Across Maine website in the very near future with additional details about our plans for the 2022 Trek Across Maine. We are so excited to share details with you as we look forward to next year! Please stay tuned and we will see you soon!
Why We Ride
The Trek Across Maine will celebrate its 37th anniversary in 2021 with a virtual event experience. As the largest fundraising event of its kind in the nation for the American Lung Association, the Trek has raised more than $29.5 million in the past 36 years. This year funds raised by the Trek Across Maine continue to support our COVID-19 Action Initiative with three main focus areas:
To provide free lung health education and masks to those in need.
To protect public health by advocating for COVID and flu vaccines in underserved communities of color.
To prevent future outbreaks by investing in respiratory virus research.
There are 36 million Americans suffering from lung diseases, like COPD, asthma and lung cancer — the #1 cancer killer in the United States. As cyclists, you know how important it is to have healthy lungs and clean air to breathe. By joining us and hundreds of others for the Trek Across Maine, you’ll also be supporting:
Education for patients and families
Advocacy for clean air and protection from harmful air pollution
Thank you for supporting healthy lungs and clean air, because when you can’t breathe, nothing else matters.
In March, the American Lung Association launched a $25 million initiative to end COVID-19 and defend against future respiratory virus pandemics. At the same time, we're continuing our advocacy work to support clean air and redoubling our long-term commitments to lifesaving research.
