Hello All,
It is that time of year when I am training for the Trek Across Maine. It has been a cold damp spring, so I have had a late start. This year is the 40th anniversary of the Trek and my sixth-year riding to raise money for The American Lung Association.
As many of you know I first participated in the Trek Across Maine with my sister-in-law Wendy Keith-Hardy. I now ride in her honor after cancer took her life at 61. Now, Wendy’s brothers and their families are also involved with the Trek. This year, James will be splitting his time between riding and volunteering with Ellie and William so my sister-in-law Alexis can ride for the first time. Last year was Ellie and William’s first official year as volunteers, and they loved passing out snacks and cheering people on at the rest stops.
More importantly, the Trek has become one of many ways to honor Wendy’s memory in doing something she loved. Having Noah, Zeb, Kirsten, and Paddy and Kiley (when they were back east) meet us at the finish is very meaningful. These last two years the Trek has become a family weekend of enjoying each other’s company, having fun, and raising money for an important cause—one that changed all our lives while fighting to hopefully save other lives.
Riding to raise money for cancer is now more important than ever. The Trek raises money to benefit the American Lung Association. The mission of the American Lung Association is to save lives by improving lung health and preventing lung disease. I am asking you to help by supporting my fundraising efforts with a donation. Your tax-deductible gift will make a difference in the lives of many Americans who struggle to breathe! It is faster and easier than ever to support this great cause. You can make your donation online by simply clicking on the link at the bottom of this message.
Any amount, great or small, helps in the fight against lung disease. I greatly appreciate your support. As always, keep your fingers crossed we don’t see all rain in Maine the weekend of June 14-16. Last year we had a full second day of cold hard rain – we REALLY don’t need to experience that again.
Thanks so much,
Jess
