Once again, I am planning to participate in the ALA's great fall event. For the 27th time, along the route I know and love, I shall pedal through the towns of Cape Cod. The cause is special- raising funds for research, advocacy and education about lung disease, And it has become very personal- Rose is now over 2 years out from 2 operations to remove early stage, slow-growing lung cancer nodules (adenocarcinoma) and is thankfully well, and and planning to participate again. Her surveillance CAT scans have been consistently unchanged, and we are hopeful they will stay that way. This year we travelled to Washington where she was the Massachusetts representative for the ALA's Lung Force Advocacy day. She participated in focussed training and some highly successful interactions with legislators who have influence over policy and funding for the issues that matter in the ongoing response to this disease.
We ride most of the route together, sharing thoughts and stories along the way. What a trip! Our son-in-law, Matvey Farber, will also continue his amazing series of weekend getaways from California for his 9th Trek. Thank you Anya, Ezra and Miriam for supporting him coming! Again and again!
We are fortunate to be members of Walter's Wheelers, a team formed in honor of a beloved friend and teacher, who died from lung cancer only a few months after completing his 3rd Trek. We also honor the many members of our team's family and friends who have been affected in some way by lung disease. The cameraderie is special, and our commitment is strengthened by this experience.
Please support my ride with whatever amount you can. Donate online here, or send me a check at 55 Orchard Hill Road, Boston, MA 02130.
Thank you vey much!
