I am joining thousands of other cyclists and the American Lung Association to raise money to fight lung disease. I'm riding 44 miles from Elma to Westport in memory of my mom,  who passed away after a long battle with COPD exacerbated by Long Covid.

My mom lived with COPD for more than a decade.  As the disease progressed, she fought hard to maintain her health and independence.  Even in the dead of winter, she drove herself to COPD-rehab sessions several towns away.  I lost my mom in 2023, but I will forever be inspired by her determination.  

 Growing faster than almost any other major illness, lung disease, including lung cancer, asthma and emphysema is the third leading cause of the death in the United States.
