In December I discovered I had lung cancer. Stage 4. A golf ball-size tumor in my right lung. More than a liter of fluid drained from my chest. Cancer gnawing away at my pelvic bone. Yikes.
Looked very bad. And I rapidly felt worse through January. But medical science has advanced in the last few years, and I'm on an effective treatment plan. I can get back on my bike. And I'm feeling better than I expected I ever would again.
I’ve decided to do something bold. I am joining thousands of other cyclists and the American Lung Association to raise money to fight lung disease. I'm thriving due to research efforts, and I'm currently part of a clinical study. And if I prepare well, I hope to ride my first century in three decades.
