Being a respiratory virus, COVID-19 has moved to the forefront of all research and education for the moment along with COPD, asthma, cancer, and other lung diseases. The American Lung Association plays a huge role in that arena lobbying Congress for medical supplies, funding, research, education, and a mulititude of other things necessary to keep us safe and healthy, and to heal and provide comfort for those who become ill. Please consider supporting this year's ride as the funds will have a great impact on our lives.
This year not only will I be riding in honor of Sam, Bobby, Rogers, Andy, and Scott, but I will also be riding in honor of my brother, Kreg, who passed away from COPD. Kreg decided to allow nature take its course while living life to its fullest and enjoying every day best as he could while being a First Responder, fire fighter, and EMT. Kreg showed amazing strength and grace, with lots of dry humor thrown in, in his life's journey, something we should all strive to emulate.
In August 2013, Nikki, Helen, and Alex lost their father, and I lost my husband, Sam, my companion, hiking and fishing buddy, and best friend to lung cancer due to serving on a US Navy submarine filled with asbestos. This will be my 10th year of riding in Sam's honor with a goal of raising $10,000 and riding 100 miles. You can help me meet my goal by donating or if you prefer, you are welcome to join me on the Glass Half Full team and ride. We would love to have you.
Every day I wake up grateful for the clean air we breath. Together, we will work to keep clean air for all and yet, without funding, education and research will not happen to continue maintaining and improving our clean air. If our air becomes polluted, people suffering from lung cancer, asthma, and COPD such as my late husband, Sam, my brother, Kreg, and many other family members and friends, as well as Sweet Pea, my cat, will not be able to breath. We cannot allow our clean air to become polluted again.
