Let’s make sure everyone can benefit from healthy air and lungs.
We're on year #4 this year in riding Reach the Beach to represent all those who suffer through the day having difficulty breating and in support of those who have lung disease! I cannot tell you how much I love riding this ride, and I wish I could get more of you out here to join me!
Since moving to Portland six years ago, I have had a reoccurance of asthma impact my life. I know from personal experience how scary it can be to barely breathe and not know when your breathing will return back to normal. I know the challenges of trying to sleep with partially functioning lungs.
It creates challenges in how you approach your day; where's my emergency inhaler? am I reacting to outdoor allergens? am I reacting to food allergens? why is my asthma triggering so severely and right now...?
I am just one of many people who suffer from one form or another of lung disease. It comes in many forms, among which are:
Asthma / Emphysema / Cystic fibrosis / Lung cancer
It is likely that someone else in your life has to deal with one of these day to day, and as such, you may know how frustrating and debilitating it can be for that individual, and sometimes even for their family.
So yet again, I am going to ride the Reach the Beach Century ride (104 miles :D) to help raise awareness for lung disease and to raise funds for lung disease research!
Wiht the impacts of COVID-19 on everyone's life currently, I am setting my fundraising goal to be $400. Many of you helped me acheive significant fundraising goals in the past, so I feel like this is a manageable goal for the current times. I cannot wait to see how yoou can help support me this year!!! Even just donating something as small as $5 or $10 can go a long way in helping with both lung disease awareness and research. Your generosity would mean a lot to me and all those who benefit from the work of the American Lung Association. Lung disease is on the rise and your donation would help fund research and provide education and advocacy efforts.
One pedal at a time, you can help me ride for a better tomorrow.

Together we can fight lung disease successfully!
