Dear friends, family, and colleagues:
I'm training for Reach The Beach, a single-day, 104-mile bike ride from Portland to Pacific City.
This will be my third year participating and I'm dedicating it to my paternal grandfather, Donald (pictured above), who passed in 1986 from throat cancer.
While the exact cause of his death remains unknown, it was likely due to a combination of cigarettes and exposure to radiation in WWII.
The event includes a charitable component and every participant is asked to raise $150, but I'm hoping to exceed my total from last year, which totaled $1650.
All donations benefit the American Lung Association and will be used to fund cancer research, public awareness, and advocacy efforts.
Contributions of any size can be made by clicking the "Donate Now" button at the top of the column just to the right of this here description.
Unlike the first year when I rode solo, I've roped friends both new and old into joining me and I'm excited to see how we do as a team.
Thanks so much for your support!
