Welcome to my personal page and to my 20th year of my participation in the Clean Air Challenge! These past 20 years have been a fantastic experience riding and training with my team Pedal to the Medal and working closely with the awesome staff at the American Lung Association. Now is the time to join our team as a pedaler or donate to our cause.
Our ride means so much to all of us for so many reason. Most of us ride for family members, friends, for those who can not ride due to lung issues and for our own asthma issues. We put hours and hours of training in to pedal the 100 miles to raise funds. The funds we raise help people from newborns to senior citizens all who have lung issues.
Last year I had a very serious bicycle accident which sidelined my outdoor riding for over a year. My 2022 ride for the American lung was done on an indoor spin bicycle in AZ and I was able to pedal out 60 miles. Last year was the first time I was not with my team in AK pedaling outdoors. On Jan. 24th 2023 I was able to pedal outside for my 1st ride. I rode 22 miles. I had visit with my shoulder surgeon two days later. He tells me I am doing well, but it may be 18-24 months before I am back to my new normal. This was hard news to take, but I am a positive person and will push forward. I will be continuing my indoor and adding more outdoor training to get ready for the 2023 CAC bike on May 13th. I promise, my team and I will pedal strong on May 13th and are training to ride the whole 100 miles for all who can’t pedal, for our loved ones and friends we have lost.
This being my 20th year of riding I know many of you have read my story as why I ride. I ride for my parents and my husbands mom and sister who have passed on due to lung complications, other family and friends who have lung issues and my own asthma. People with lung problems are all around us. Lung disease is not just happening to people who have smoked but some of us who never smoked were born with asthma to include myself.
I am asking each and everyone of you that read my story to please donate. Please help us make a difference by making a donation, any amount you can afford to the American Lung Association in Alaska help raise money to save lives by improving lung health, and pre venting lung disease. Please use the following link to donate to my person page, you will need to copy the link and paste it into a new search window.
