I've joined hundreds of others throughout our area raising funds for the American Lung Association and the fight against lung disease. I've been riding for the American lung for 16 years and it is a near and dear passion of mine. Both my parents were smokers and their lungs were compromised from an early age. My Dad (Dale Gordon) passed in 2010 and Mom (Marilyn Dresnek) in 2013. Along with losing both my parents at early ages, I also have Exercise Induced Asthma and continually battle lung issues. I have been an athlete all my life and never smoked!!! My Mom and Dad both quit smoking later in life which I think actually prolonged the time they had here on earth.
Every year I pound the pavement trying to raise as much money as I can to help the American Lung help others with lung problems. I ride in memory of both my parents, my husbands mother Naomi Johnson, his sister Shelly Johnson,Virginia Penny and several other family and friends that have had lung problems. Having asthma, not being able to breathe properly is awful. The American Lung Association helps many people from the very young to our seniors. My team Pedal to the Medal and I ride hard for all of those folks who can't ride and in memory of several. Each one of my teammates and I either have experienced lungs problems as asthma, or have had a loved one or friend die from lung problems. Please help us make a difference by either
joining us and ride or you can make a donation to the American Lung Association in Alaska and help raise money to save lives by improving lung health and preventing lung disease.
With your generous support, the American Lung Association is “Fighting for Air” through research, education and advocacy.
