Per CDC guidance, masks are no longer required for fully vaccinated people in public spaces. If you are not yet fully vaccinated, to ensure the safety of our immune-compromised participants and volunteers, masks are required in official event spaces when in close proximity to other attendees. If you are fully vaccinated and still would like to wear a mask, you are welcome to do so.

Important Changes to In-Person Routes Further Updates
To ensure we have a truly safe event we have changed the routes for this year. All ride lengths will now circle through Washington County and will begin and end at Countryside Community Church in Sherwood. Please note the location of our start & finish line is a further change as we will no longer start and end in Hillsboro. Along with your safety, our priority is to also get the summer cycling season in Oregon off to a terrific start, so please check here for details about our Revised New Routes, Start Times and Packet Pick-Up. (Packets must be picked up in advance of Ride Day). Thank you for your continued support and understanding.
Every Mile Counts
Join us on a mission to make a difference for everyone who breathes. This cycling event is perfect as a personal challenge, an opportunity to explore your community, and a way to stay active. The in-person and Ride Your Way options both have amazing support throughout the event! We provide superb organization, beautiful routes, numerous online social events, regular training challenges, excellent fundraising support, and more!
The Reach the Beach OR will celebrate its 31st anniversary in 2021. Our mission: to save lives by improving lung health and preventing lung disease is in hyper-drive as we face down COVID-19 through our COVID-19 Action Initiative. The dollars our riders are raising are making a difference at this critical time.
Reach the Beach OR encourages our cyclists to stay active and enjoy time on their bike (practicing safe social distancing) while supporting the work of the American Lung Association. Please review the details below regarding how you can participate.
Ride Your Way Plan your own ride on a route and date that works best for you. There is no registration fee for Ride Your Way participants and you are eligible for all the same incentive gift awards as those who ride in-person on May 15th, starting with the finishers medal and tee-shirt for raising just $150 for the American Lung Association.
Ride in Person - by selecting one of our four exciting route options. Please note that all of our routes may be subject to a maximum capacity cap due to local and state COVID-19 restrictions and ALA safety protocols. If we are required to limit participation on any or all routes, priority will be given to the highest overall fundraisers, riding as part of a team or individually. A registration fee applies to all in-person registrants and there is a minimum fundraising requirement of $150. Incentive Gifts begin at $150 and will include a Reach the Beach Finishers’ medal and 2021 tee-shirt.
Riders can also create their own route in honor of Reach the Beach with Ride Your Way
Get those miles in! Please remember to practice social distancing while spending time on your bike and working towards achieving your mileage or training goal. Daily exercise is key to both lung health and mental health.

Track Your Miles
In order to make this year’s event as interactive as possible, we’ve created a Reach The Beach OR Strava Club! Strava is a free application you can download on your smart phone to track your miles as you cycle in support of the American Lung Association.
In March, the American Lung Association launched a $25 million initiative to end COVID-19 and defend against future respiratory virus pandemics. At the same time, we're continuing our advocacy work to support clean air and redoubling our long-term commitments to lifesaving research.
