I am joining thousands of other cyclists and the American Lung Association to raise money to fight lung disease and increase awareness about the importance of lung health.

Lung disease can take someone's breath away, leaving them unable to work, exercise or play. Growing faster than almost any other major illness, lung disease, including lung cancer, asthma and emphysema is the third leading cause of the death in the United States.

This winter my father passed away suddenly from scleroderma. While scleroderma is not lung disease, it can a debilitating and very aggressive and lung complications, along with various other vital organ complications, can become serious symptoms. For me this ride will be a meaningful and meditative process to celebrate my father's life while traveling a long distance on two wheels and to help support necessary research towards fighting such diseases in the future.
