I'm riding in Reach The Beach 2024 to emphasize the importance of clean air in indoor spaces, our local communities, and the environment as a whole. There are two major reasons I think this ride is a great way to show a massive solution sitting right under our noses and raise money for a critical health problem.
The first reason is bike riding itself. Bikes as transportation have the potential to bring the US into the present day and massively reduce city-travel emissions as well as raise activity levels. I hope this ride inspires as many people as possible to spin the pedals and imagine a future less reliant on polluting forms of travel that will never be as fun as riding a bike.
The second reason is lung disease and lung damage in general. As pollution decreases air quality and airborne viruses like Covid-19 become more damaging and prevalent clean air is vital to the continued health and safety of our communities. We cannot ignore the people whose lives have been cut short or drastically damaged by lack of action in confronting these problems. There are readily available solutions we can implement and demand from our society.
Thank you for reading and your support. Below you can read RTB's message on lung health. Go ride your bike, and go ducks.

I am joining thousands of other cyclists and the American Lung Association to raise money to fight lung disease and increase awareness about the importance of lung health.
Lung disease can take someone's breath away, leaving them unable to work, exercise or play. Growing faster than almost any other major illness, lung disease, including lung cancer, asthma and emphysema is the third leading cause of death in the United States.
Thank you in advance for your support!
