This will be my 9th year riding the 100 mile route for Reach the Beach. We started in 2016 when Roxanne was first diagnosed with lung cancer and now ride in her memory, only missing the lost year of COVID when the event was cancelled. It is our hope that our efforts will meaningfully contribute to a chance for current and future patients to receive life saving treatments.
On May 18th, we will participate in the Century Route, again starting on Sauvie Island in Portland and ending in Astoria on the coast. The primary objective of this event is to raise awareness and especially funds for the American Lung Association's efforts to fund lung disease treatment developments, combat childhood asthma, and fund teen smoking prevention strategies. No one should struggle to breathe.
My good friend and coworker, Greg Johnson, and I have ridden this event together and encourage anyone to join us by making a tax deductible donation to our efforts and help us, along with the American Lung Association, support the FIGHT FOR AIR. I encourage you to join us this year or next and if 100 miles sounds too rich for you, you can still be a member of Roxy's Riders and start at one of the shorter distance starting points!
Thank you for honoring the memory of those lost to lung disease and joining this important fight for people with lung disease, children with asthma, teens who are pressured to start smoking, and everyone who wants to breathe healthy air in our communities.
