Recently a close friend of mine, Patrick, died of lung cancer after 3.5 years battling with the disease. Another relative living in British Columbia also died of lung cancer in May. My father died of long-term illness caused by lung cancer 18 years ago. The list goes on and more are dying everyday because of lung cancer.
When I think of Patrick, I am still sad that he is no longer here, but I also find comfort in my memories with him. At the beginning of his diagnosis, we talked about riding the Canada annual "Ride to Conquer Cancer" event, sponsored by The Prince Margaret Cancer Center as it was one of his dream rides and he would be able to help others with cancer. However, it was not possible for him to ride during his battle with the disease due to his physical condition.
I want to fulfill Patrick's dream and I am participating in the American Lung Association’s Cycle For Air event this September. The money I raise will support the critical mission of the Lung Association to improve lung health and save lives. More than 34 million Americans are living with lung disease such as asthma, COPD and lung cancer. Your donation will help them breathe easier. Please help me reach my fundraising goal, so together we can make a difference.
I am joining thousands of other cyclists and the American Lung Association to raise money to fight lung disease and increase awareness about the importance of lung health.
Lung disease can take someone's breath away, leaving them unable to work, exercise or play. Growing faster than almost any other major illness, lung disease, including lung cancer, asthma and emphysema is the third leading cause of the death in the United States and Canada.
Please join me in my efforts to make a difference by making a personal or corporate tax-deductible donation.
Thank you in advance for you support!
