Thank you for visiting my personal donation page. This year, I'll once again be participating in the American Lung Association's Reach the Beach bike ride from Lacey to Westport to help raise funds and awareness for clean air.
We can sometimes take for granted how clean the air is here in the US. Since the enactment of the Clean Air Act, morbidity and mortality associated with air pollution have all dramatically decreased, but we can't stop fighting for those most in need of air pollution reduction in their neighborhoods.
It is easy to feel that our work in curbing air pollution is done, or that minimal gain can come from increased regulation and awareness-raising simply because many of us are fortunate to live in areas that no longer experience severe human-caused air pollution. However, many Americans continue to live and work in areas that have been deemed to shoulder a disproportionate amount of the air pollution burden, largely due to socioeconomic factors.
Citizens living and working near industrial hotspots can be exposed to concentrations of certain hazardous chemical compounds deemed above safe levels. Much work needs to be done to help educate these citizens about their exposure and their rights when it comes to providing equal air for all.
Please join me in my efforts to make a difference by making a personal or corporate tax-deductible donation.
Thank you in advance for you support!
