For the 18th time my bike and I will have GREAT FUN raising money for a truly FABULOUS CAUSE. ALA’s fight began with demanding NYC enact anti-spitting laws to slow the spread of TB in 1904. And soon thereafter we all started licking Christmas or Easter Seals to try and kill TB altogether. IT WORKED! ALA has since become a universal wild-eyed supporter of lung health. They have provided research grant money, PR support, public education, legislative strategies and clean air advocacy for nearly 12 decades. Their clean air drive works to mitigate climate change, something as urgent as stopping TB was a century ago!
My first ALA fundraiser ride was on my 50th birthday. I soon discovered what great fun it was to raise money just by doing long bike rides. However, to get up the hills I then HAD to get more fit and quit smoking. That was a win-win stroke of genius: they get the money for all their great work and I get fitter and stay healthier!
If you can join the ride or donate to the ride, ALA and I would be most grateful.
Thanks in advance for your support.
George
