Climbed to the top! 2019
I climb for my asthma. I climb in memory of my grandma who had mesothelioma and passed away in 2019. I climb in memory of my husband, Dylan, who had rhabdomyosarcoma that metastasized to his lungs and passed away in 2019. I climb for Dylan's grandma who contracted COVID-19 after going to the hospital for a scheduled surgery and passed away in 2020. I climb for all those who are not able to climb. It may be painful and take me a long time to get up, but I will continue to climb for everyone.
The first year that I participated in the Fight for Air climb was 5 years ago now. Despite training with a lot of stairs leading up to the event, I had a surprisingly difficult time making it up all the stairs. I was very quickly out of breath and exhausted, which I later found out was due to having asthma. Especially now that I am directly affected by research done by the American Lung Association in terms of the effects of asthma, I am proud to be participating in this great event for my fifth year. I also hope that my efforts can help with progress in cancer and COVID-19 research to prevent the ones we love being taken away from us too soon.
On May 22, 2021, the Fight for Air claim will be at Miller Park (American Family Field), which is pretty cool. Although I won't personally be at the stadium as a COVID-19 preventative measure, I will be walking a 5K to continue raising money for the American Lung Association for my 5th year participating in the Fight for Air event!!
Thank you all for your support!
