A year ago, who would have thought that we’d still be battling through a deadly global pandemic right now but I hope you and yours are well and staying healthy. COVID-19 has impacted us all in unforeseen ways and for obvious health reasons the American Lung Association (ALA) will not be holding our signature Fight for Air Climb fundraiser at the Aon Tower in person. However, the need to push our mission forward to improve lung health and clean air has never been more relevant. As the oldest voluntary health organization in America, the ALA has been fighting for lung health since 1905 beginning with the battle against Tuberculosis. More than a century later, we’ve added a $25 million commitment to end COVID-19 and defend against future respiratory viruses to our long list of existing mission undertakings including research towards cures and treatments to lung cancer and diseases, advocating for cleaner air, fighting against child tobacco uses, etc. In order to meet this mission, we've pivoted our 2021 Fight for Air Climb into a virtual fundraiser.
On May 6th, Austin, Taylor and I will be challenging ourselves to ride roughly 150 miles and climb the equivalent of 13 Aon Towers (~15,000 ft) on our mountain bikes from Fruita, Colorado to Moab, Utah as my Fight for Air Climb fundraiser.
I'm asking for your support and generosity once again with a donation toward my $10,000 goal to benefit the American Lung Association. Your tax-deductible gift will make a difference in the countless lives affected by lung disease and help to secure a healthier future for generations to come. Any amount, great or small, helps.
If you'd like to join my fundraising team for the ALA you can navigate down to the bottom of my fundraising page to "Join Marco's Team". You’ll be able to come up with your own physical climb challenge or I'll be sure to come up with some fitness challenges for some friendly competition leading up to May because I could always use the added training.
