My name is Eric Cooper. I am a native of Houston, Texas. I was born in San Francisco, CA but my formative years were spent in Texas. I currently work as a Manager in Entertainment at Universal Studios Hollywood. I’ve been working behind the scenes in Entertainment since High School and was hired out of Grad School to Universal. I’ve been in volunteerism since I was in my teens. I would feed the neighborhood kids after my mother would go grocery shopping. I’ve always found a sense of happiness when I saw others enjoying an unexpected gift or surprise.
In 2003 I was recognized by the United States Postal Service Los Angeles Post Master for my efforts in supporting and promoting black heritage in the greater Los Angeles community.
My real affinity for volunteerism really expanded when I started working at Universal. I’ve been Volunteer of year and have been afforded the opportunity to work with a great deal of charities i.e. Operation Gratitude, Operation School Bell, Shane’s Inspiration, Project Angel Food, American Lung Association, Covenant House, LA Family Housing, Downtown Women’s Center, APLA and a few others. I believe volunteerism is the rent we pay to be citizens of Earth.
I have raised over $85,000 for the American Lung Association’s lifesaving mission through the Fight For Air Climb and look forward to climbing every year.
This year, I am honored to join the 2024 group of I Wear Turquoise Ambassadors to raise critical dollars for lung health.
