Mr. Dionissios Kollias
On Tuesday, August 4, Spiros D. Kollias, loving husband and father of four, passed away at the age of 72 after a nine month battle with Stage 4 small cell adeno lung cancer.
Spiros was born on February 29, 1948 at home in Filiatra, Greece to Dionysios and Eleni (Patsa) Kollias. Celebrations continued for three days until his birth was registered at the town hall on March 3rd. He married Angie née Markopoulou on February 3, 1980 and they spent 40 wonderful years together. They raised four children, Eleni Panagakis, Peggy Kollias, Afroditi Kokkalis, and Dionissios Kollias in Mount Prospect, IL. Spiros was a devoted pappou to Vasiliki, George, and Spiro and father-in-law to Peter Panagakis and Theo Kokkalis. He cared for and supported his family and was a generous, trusting friend.
Spiros always lived for the present and enjoyed celebrating life with those around him. A lifelong athlete and soccer enthusiast, Spiros loved cheering on his favorite team, Olympiakos. He was loved and will be deeply missed by his friends, family, and all who knew him.
We hope that your donation helps advance lung cancer research and treatment.
