On Thursday, November 7th, at noon, the American Lung Association will host North Carolina Community Connections: Navigating Lung Cancer presented by Novant Health. This free 30-minute educational webinar will feature leading experts in lung cancer diagnosis, and treatment. Attendees will also have the opportunity to submit their own questions to be answered during the webinar.

Juleidy Turnipseed, DMSc, PAC
Novant Health
Juleidy Turnipseed, DMSc, PAC, serves as the Director of Thoracic Oncology Program Services and is also a Thoracic Surgery Physician Assistant at Novant. She plays a dual role, blending clinical and administrative leadership within the thoracic oncology department, where she directs the comprehensive lung cancer program. Her clinical expertise includes thoracic oncology, minimally invasive thoracic surgery, and robotic surgery, with a strong passion for expanding lung cancer screening and awareness for high-risk patients. Turnipseed is dedicated to developing and implementing pathways and protocols to ensure a high standard of care for patients with lung nodules, including those detected incidentally.
Originally from Havana, Cuba, and raised in Miami, FL, Turnipseed is committed to improving early lung cancer detection. Outside of her professional work, she enjoys traveling, spending time with her husband, daughter, and son, and focusing on mission work.
Donna Small, RN, OCN Novant Health
With over 33 years of dedicated experience in oncology nursing, Donna Small, RN, OCN has established herself as a vital member of the healthcare community in Charlotte. Her career has encompassed a variety of roles, including bedside nursing, clinical research, infusion, and triage, allowing her to develop a comprehensive understanding of patient care across the oncology spectrum.
For the past five years, Donna has served as a Nurse Navigator at Novant Health Cancer Institute, specializing in lung cancer and neuro-oncology. In this role, she has provided critical support to patients navigating their cancer journeys, ensuring they receive the resources and care they need.
Donna played a pivotal role in the development of the Pulmonary Nodule Clinic within the Cancer Institute, reflecting her commitment to advancing oncology care and improving patient outcomes. Her extensive experience and passion for patient advocacy continue to make a significant impact in the lives of those she serves.
