Tell Secretary Becerra to Act Quickly to Remove Menthol Cigarettes

Removing menthol cigarettes and many flavored cigars from the marketplace will prevent many kids from starting to smoke and promote quitting, especially among Black Americans. These actions have the potential to save millions of lives and protect a generation of kids from starting this deadly addiction.

On Thursday, April 29, the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) announced it would propose to remove menthol cigarettes and flavored cigars from the marketplace. The Lung Association has urged FDA to remove all flavored tobacco products, including menthol cigarettes, for more than a decade and welcomes this announcement as an important step to address tobacco-related health disparities.

The Bottom line: Removing menthol cigarettes and many flavored cigars from the marketplace will prevent many kids from starting to smoke and promote cessation, especially among Black Americans. These actions have the potential to save millions of lives.

Please take a moment to send a letter to Health and Human Services Secretary Becerra to urge them to move forward quickly.

As you finalize your letter, please take a moment to personalize it and share why removing menthol cigarettes and flavored cigarettes is important to you.

Thank you for taking action.
