Trucking pollution threatens the health of communities across the United States and must be addressed to protect children, families and those at greater risk from unhealthy air. The shift to zero-emission trucks powered by non-combustion, renewable electricity will protect lung health, reduce disparities in pollution exposure and create healthier, more sustainable communities.

Federal policies must ensure a rapid shift to zero-emission trucks and non-combustion energy so that all communities can breathe cleaner, healthier air. To achieve this, policies must build on the momentum underway and accelerate the path to zero-emissions. We call on you to:

Accelerate the deployment of zero-emission vehicle infrastructure and non-combustion renewable energy resources;

Support federal policies and investments to move 100 percent of national truck sales to zero-emissions no later than 2040;

Promote the adoption of strong state policies like the Advanced Clean Truck standard to ensure the steady transition to zero-emission truck manufacturing and deployment.

Action today could generate $735 billion in health benefits by 2050, saving over 66,800 lives and preventing 1.75 million asthma attacks and 8.5 million lost work days just in counties with major trucking routes. We can't delay clean air any longer.
