Registration and Participation

How do I sign up?
You can register as an individual walker, team captain, team member or volunteer.

Is there a registration fee? Do I have to raise money to participate in the walk?
There is no registration fee for LUNG FORCE Walks. Please keep in mind that the LUNG FORCE Walk is a fundraising event and all participants are encouraged to raise additional funds via online fundraising and fundraising events. Kick off your fundraising by making a $33 personal donation toward your fundraising goal of raising a minimum of $100 to make a difference in the lives of those who struggle to breathe because of lung disease. Work with your local LUNG FORCE staff to develop a fundraising plan to hit your goal and check out our Fundraising Tools in your Participant Center for more information.

How do I get a commemorative LUNG FORCE Walk t-shirt?
Every participant who raises a minimum of $100 will receive a commemorative t-shirt. There are several other fundraising incentives you can achieve, click here to view all fundraising incentives.

Who should checks be payable to and where should they be sent?
Donations made online can be paid by credit or debit card or Pay Pal. Donors will receive a receipt for their contribution, which is tax-deductible. Donations collected via check or cash may be mailed ahead of time to the American Lung Association office at:

How do I find out if my company has a matching gift program?
Many companies offer matching gift programs in which the company will match an employee’s contribution to a charitable organization. If you are not sure if you qualify for a matching gift, please use the company search tool below. The tool will provide you with information regarding minimum and maximum match criteria, as well as steps on how to get started. Some companies without a formal program may still match your gift, if you ask your personnel or human resources department.

Is there a minimum age to participate?
Anyone can join a LUNG FORCE Walk. All individuals must register as participants. Those under 18 must be accompanied by an adult 21 years or older at the event. And remember, kids can raise funds, too!

Is there any special recognition for people who have asthma, COPD, lung cancer or another lung disease?
Yes. If you are participating in the LUNG FORCE Walk because of a personal connection to lung disease, you can identify yourself during the registration process. You will be invited to join our cadre of LUNG FORCE heroes and will have the opportunity to share your story if you are interested.

What is a team captain?
Team Captains rally friends, family and co-workers to form a team and participate in the LUNG FORCE Walk. The team captain helps coordinate online registration, goal setting and also assists team members with fundraising. Register as a team captain today.

What is an official walk team?
Ideally, a walk team includes a Team Captain and a minimum of four team members. There are Corporate Teams and Family/Friends Teams.
